  4. INTRODUCTION

  7. The CD Music Player is a windows program that allows you to play audio CD's 
  8. on a CD-ROM drive.
  9.  
  10. Features include the following:
  11.  
  12. o    The title, artist, track names and up to 3 preferred playing orders 
  13.     may be entered for each CD.  When a CD is used again it is 
  14.     automatically recognised and the above details are all recalled.
  15.  
  16. o    In addition to playing the tracks in your preferred playing order, 
  17.     tracks may be played in track order, reverse track order or in a 
  18.     random order.
  19.  
  20. o    Choice of display windows.
  21.  
  22. o    Search facility.
  23.  
  24. o    Auto repeat.
  25.  
  26. o    Introduction scan, with a configurable introduction scan time.
  27.  
  28. o    Ability to export details about entered CD's for use with third
  29.     party databases.

  32. HARDWARE/SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

  35. o    CD-ROM drive and associated driver.
  36. o    Microsoft's CD-ROM extensions (MSCDEX).

  38. o    Any machine that can run windows 3.1 will be suitable.

  52. INSTALLATION
  53. ------------

  55. To install the CD Music Player, from windows 
  56.  
  57. o    In the program manager, select 'Run' from the 'File' menu.
  58.  
  59. o    Type:
  60.         A:\SETUP
  61.     (use B: if the disk is in your B: drive etc.)
  62.  
  63. o    This will then install the software on your hard disk and
  64.     create a program group and item for the program.
  65.  
  66. Alternatively, you may install the software manually by:
  67.  
  68. o    Copying CDMP.EXE and CDMP.HLP into your windows directory 
  69.     (or any directory you wish).
  70.  
  71. o    Creating a program item for the CD Music Player in any of the
  72.     program groups.
  73.  
  74. If you have not previously loaded the CD audio driver you will need to do so
  75. before using the CD Music Player by selecting the 'Drivers' option in the 
  76. Control Panel and loading the '[MCI] CD Audio' entry.

  79. SHAREWARE
  80. ---------

  82. This program is Shareware.  Shareware is a marketing concept where you
  83. can try out the software for an evaluation period without having to pay
  84. for it (apart from a small charge for copying/administration paid to 
  85. shareware libraries).
  86.  
  87. After the evaluation period if you have found the software useful and wish 
  88. to continue using it then you must register the software with the author.
  89. Remember that the author doesn't get a penny until you register the software.
  90.  
  91. For the CD Music Player the evaluation period is 30 days.  If you wish to use
  92. it beyond this period then you must register it.  The cost of registration 
  93. is £14 (including VAT & postage) which is the same as the cost of a 
  94. typical audio CD. See the next section for registration details.

  96. You are also free to give friends etc. a copy of the CD Music Player, but
  97. you must copy at least the 3 files CDMP.EXE, CDMP.HLP and READ.ME.

  100. REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
  101. -------------------------

  103. Registration costs £14 sterling, and must be paid by a cheque drawn
  104. on a UK bank and made payable to: GNE SOFTWARE Ltd.

  115. In return you will receive a registration number which can be entered
  116. in the 'Register' dialog box of the CD Music Player to turn off the
  117. registration reminder screens.
